Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Drink Coffee When it’s 40+ Degrees Celsius

Many of us can’t even think about starting their day without their favorite black beverage. However, when we have heat waves like this, it’s smarter to avoid it, especially the one in the afternoon. We’re all happy when the weather is sunny, especially those that like to sit down and drink coffee with their friends, in their favourite café.Still, this isn’t such a good idea in tropical heat.Even though at first glance it seems that a cup of coffee, which can raise the blood pressure, can be a great prevention against a heat stroke, it’s not so.

Heart

The problem is that coffee, but black tea aswell, contains alot of caffeine, a supstance that raises the blood pressure, accelerates the pulse, and can even cause your heart to skip a beat. Unfortunately, the raised blood pressure lasts only for a short period of time, and after the effects of caffeine wear off your blood pressure can drop even more. We’re sure you don’t want to feel ill.

Sweating

Caffeine is also considered a strong diuretic, which means that it causes fast excretion of bodily fluids either by sweating or urinating – and that leads to dehydration. Another problem is that useful minerals like calcium, magnesium and sodium are also excreted.

Beauty

Another bad thing, for those who want to sunbathe and get tanned, is that with its dehydrating properties, coffee makes the skin dry and may cause wrinkles. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Mood

Drinking coffee in hot weather is a bad idea because it can also affect the mood. It increases the stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline and that can lead to increased anxiety, but also low sugar levels in the bloodstream.

Insomnia

Also, the days are longer in summer, and during those hot nights we sleep less. Coffee, which otherwise raises our alertness, is not a friend of  good quality sleep.

A  Deadly Combination

It’s especially bad if you opt for iced coffee with lots of sugar and milk. It’s not only a calorie bomb but it’s also bad for your health. If you really have to …

If you are already addicted to coffee and you know in advance that youwon’t take my advice about not drinking it in the summer, atleast drink only one in the morning, without any sugar or milk and definetely not on an empty stomach.Although it sounds strange, scientists advise that you drink your coffee HOT! Hot bewerages encourage thermoregulation and make us feel refreshed even in heatwaves.
