Figs – Nutritional Value, Calories AndHealing Properties
Figs are much appreciated juicy fruits. Some love them, and some don’t. Many have them in their gardens as an ornamental plant, due to the characteristic exotic leaves. The plant thrives best in warm regions, close to the sea, but can be grown in the continental areas. The problem is that figs are sensitive to low temperatures.
Figs contain a lot of calcium, potassium, zinc and are a good source of iron, beta carotene, C, A, E and K vitamins. Dried figs are much more caloric than fresh, so they should be eaten in limited quantities.
Figs improve digestion, help with hemorrhoids, and contribute to cholesterol regulation. With their calcium content, figs can replace dairy products, and are thought to be an aphrodisiac. There are people who are allergic to the fig trees, so you should take into account your tolerance of fruit trees.
